Senior Safety. Smart Kit for independent living.
Technology can generate autonomy that improves not only the quality of life of the elderly person, but also of those who do not have the opportunity to devote much time to caring for the latter.
World statistics state that the elderly population in the next fifteen years will be greater than the eighteen-year-old population.
This implies the need to provide more assistance. The elderly prefer to live and age within the walls of their own homes rather than in a different structure, which leads to assistance and a waste of human resources far higher than normal. We must therefore focus on the ability of the elderly to become independent. This can also happen thanks to the use of technology and the implementation of the IoT in the daily life of the elderly.
When it comes to IoT in the domestic context, the first thought is that of the smart home: the ability to have an intelligent environment that can help those who live there simplify many basic functions
However, it is often necessary to take into account the psychology of the elderly: refusal to accept technology or refusal to simply ask for help is not a trivial matter, therefore it is necessary to give dignity to the elderly person by building new technologies thinking of the union independence-dignity, creating intelligent objects that can help elderly without destabilizing them.
The Senior Safety App integrates IoT devices making the home and the outdoors where the elderly live a safe and always controlled environment. Through the installation of a Smart Home Kit in the subject's homes, we will be able to analyze the behavior, the state of health, the vital parameters, the movements thanks to the support of tutors and social workers. The app will allow you to set a reminder on the drugs to be administered, clinical, pharmacological, allergies, blood type records, all in compliance with current regulations (GDPR) to protect the citizen.
In this way it is possible to monitor continuously and in real time the state of physical and psychological health of the person, and if necessary, it is possible to intervene in response to emergencies and behavioral changes of the individual such as to require hospitalization in adequate structures.
The data that are displayed through the App allow the analysis and control of:
- Movements of the elderly
- Access to the premises of the house
- Hours spent in bed
- Analysis of behavioral habits
- Presence inside the premises
- Time spent in the premises
- Support with emergency light for movement in the event of a power failure
- Alarms with light projection on the access ways (flights of stairs)
