About MiSalva

The MISALVA project, funded by the Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of the Earth and the Sea (MATTM), is developed by the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio and by the University of Naples Federico II, the latter in as a partner.

The project proposes a methodology for defining an analysis protocol for the safety of river banks, setting the goal of creating an application tool capable of providing indications to prevent breakage phenomena. The methodology includes the monitoring of places, the study of river morphodynamics, the identification of critical scenarios, the risk estimate and the identification of the priorities of the interventions to be carried out. The risk is estimated considering the socio-economic vulnerability of the area and the damage to communities, both in terms of physical and psychological impact on people, and economic and cultural impact on assets. The proposed methodology will be applied to the embankments of the Volturno river, showing its extensibility to any other river basin. The objectives that the project intends to achieve will be subject to national dissemination and training to all subjects responsible for the prevention of hydrogeological risks.
