[What is the Sanno Festival?]
The Sanoe Festival of Hie Shrine is held in June every year, during which various small and large festivals such as a tea ceremony and a child procession are held. It was also called the "Tenka Matsuri" or "Gosai Matsuri," because the Edo Shogunate paid for the festival because it was the guardian deity of Edo Castle.
[Regular festival and Shinko festival]
The most important festivals of the Sanno festival are the annual festival held on June 15th every year and the Shinsai festival held every other year.
The annual festival is the most important ritual held at any shrine nationwide, and the dates are closely related to the shrine.
Kamikosai is an event that goes around each Ujiko town with a god on a phoenix, and is currently held every other year alternately with Kanda Myojin. Originally, the Hie shrine was originally enshrined in Edo Castle, and was transferred to Edo Castle, where it was listed by successive shoguns. Even today, worthy of the name of the World Celebration, a procession of about 500 people in gorgeous costumes, walking about 20 kilometers in each Ujiko town.
