After the happy arrival of the twins Willem and Maurits, one of them turns out to have been born with severe brain damage, the other has autism. In I just can't reach it, their father Sander tells the poignant story of the early years of his special sons. He writes candidly about his personal exploration of fatherhood, about the setbacks that befall the family, but also about the joy when one of the boys reaches a milestone, about how they fight and put things into perspective, and above all keep in good spirits. I just can't get to it is a moving, but at the same time also hopeful and even humorous book here and there.
