The mobile app Oil Palm Crop Doctor is an interactive app that disseminates information to oil palm stakeholders easily and accurately. This enables the farmer / user to send queries to ICAR-IIOPR and obtain the required information.
This application has four modules. (i) Drugs and nutritional deficiencies (ii) Fertilizer calculators (iii) Inquiries and (iv) Farming videos. It also has a side menu that displays Home, Oil Palm Crop Doctor, Contact and Logout options.
Oil palm crop doctors start with the installation registration of the mobile app in which farmers / users register on the login page, using their mobile number. After completing the registration, the launching screen appears after the dashboard screen of the app which provides four options viz. Fertilizer calculator; Displays videos of inquiries and harvests; .
The Nashik Disease and Nutrient Deficiency module displays related images of oil palm pests, diseases and nutrient deficiencies. Upon selection of a specific image, information about specific pests, diseases and deficiency symptoms and control measures are displayed. If a video is attached, the option to watch the video clip is also available.
The fertilizer calculator module calculates the amount of fertilizer based on the selected fertilizers. Results are displayed on a per palm / per acre / per hectare basis. This activity also shows the total amount of fertilizers required for the total oil palm total area.
Inquiries can be sent to ICAR-IIOPR in the form of message voice with image and video. IIOPR answers these questions.
Short video clips on oil palm cultivation are made available to the user to watch recommended practices.
The application requires internet connectivity at the time of installation and to use the third activity i.e. inquiry. For all other activities, the app works offline.
