Saum or fasting for Muslims is to refrain from eating and drinking and all actions that can cancel fasting, from dawn to sunset, with certain conditions, to increase the piety of a Muslim. Fasting (saum) is one of the five Pillars of Islam. Saum literally means to hold back or prevent. often done in the context of performing worship, it is also done outside the obligation of worship to improve the quality of the spiritual life of someone who does it. This sort of thing is often found in ascetics or monks. The essence of the purpose and purpose of fasting is self restraint of a desire to achieve a goal. Therefore, fasting can be defined as an attempt to restrain themselves from a desire that is forbidden to achieve a goal.
