J.C. Ryle (1816 - 1900) was a writer, preacher, pastor and husband, fathering five children. He held to an evangelical doctrine and to Biblical principles. For 38 years he was a pastor in rural England, and at age 64 he became the first Anglican bishop of Liverpool. In 1900 he retired, dying the same year at age 84. A man of full of the grace of God with a great frame. He had great mental power, spirituality, and preaching ability. He was known for his hospitality and writing Gospel tracts. He was a Bishop of the Reformed Evangelical Protestant Church in England, for which he was a noble defender.
