RECA: Mobile application in language of remote agricultural advice conceived by the National Network of Chambers of Agriculture (RECA Niger) and the Regional Chambers of Agriculture (CRA) of Niger.
The Chambers of Agriculture of Niger were created by Law 2000-15 of 21 August 2000, supplemented by the implementing decree of 18 May 2001. The RECA will be set up in July 2006. The CRA are "public institutions of a professional nature "and are 8 in number and the functions of the RECA:
• For RECA: Publicize the concerns of various categories of rural producers and make their views known in development policies and programs;
• For RECA: Inform rural producers in all areas that concern them and facilitate their access to services and resources by providing them with adequate guidance and advice;
• For RECA: Assist rural producers in the promotion and realization of their projects, by promoting their organization and by facilitating the mobilization of the technical and financial support they need;
• For RECA: Defend the interests of rural producers.
RECA is an application in Haoussa, Zarma and French for agricultural producers and technicians-advisers composed of five (5) parts described below:
- Welcome: Information on the RECA Call Center, Text messages and audio in Haoussa, Zarma and French agricultural advisory on the decline of mango, phytosanitary products, conservation of cowpea, ...
- Call Center: Producer Questions and Answers Given by RECA Call Center Advisors and Experts
- Practical sheets: Biopesticides preparation sheets, crop catalogs, information on crop pests (coming soon), agro-food processing methods (coming soon), ... developed by RECA, CRA and their partners
- Radio broadcasts: Audio on radio programs broadcast by RECA and CRA in community and private radio stations in Niger on fattening, whitefly, tomatoworm, cabbageworm, Spodoptera Frugiperda, .. .
- In pictures: Phytosanitary information, activities of producers and agricultural advisors, ... published on RECA Facebook pages.
In December 2018, the RECA held an elective general assembly, 4th since its creation. It allowed the renewal of the 6 members of the executive board.
The 8 CRAs and the RECA have a total of 529 consular members elected by producers or producer organizations. Six (6) of the eight (8) CRA regional chambers have a built or renovated headquarters and the RECA whose headquarters were inaugurated in February 2019. The RECA Consular Assembly consists of 38 members as follows: 8 presidents of CRA, 3 delegates including at least one woman for each of the 8 CRAs and 6 delegates from the national umbrella organizations of producer organizations.
The RECA executive board is composed of a president, a vice-president, a treasurer, an assistant treasurer, a secretary and an assistant secretary, that is 6 persons elected from among the consular members to whom we must add 2 auditors.
The 4th term of the RECA will continue the activities initiated by the previous team. For this, the RECA has just developed its strategic development plan (PDS) 2019-2022, to develop and promote useful services for agricultural professionals.
