About LitRisk

The only decision tree app on the AppStore which is designed for litigators and mediators.

Ever told a client that their chances of winning are "fair" or "good" and then had the client ask what exactly that means? Well now you can simply and easily quantify those words and back them up with a probability-driven decision analysis.

Designed to answer the question: "what is the value of my lawsuit?" You will develop a series of questions - "is the evidence admissible at trial?"; "is the judge sympathetic in this type of case?"; "does engagement with the opponent merit proceeding?" - and arrive at a series of decisions - "advise the client to settle"; "proceed to trial". Each question has a 'yes' or 'no' answer together with a probability and each decision or result has possible damages and/or costs associated with it.

The decision tree created is then analysed and a set of expected outcomes are presented together with their probabilities of occurring. This quantifies and solidifies the lawyer's feeling about the case and helps the client to understand their chances of winning more clearly. In addition to the translation of the lawyer's experience and intuition into hard numbers, the value of this process lies in its ability to clarify thoughts and provide a disciplined and rigorous framework for assessing a given case. The flexibility also allows any probability to be updated when new information comes in with the impact on the expected outcome being instantly available.

The app allows you to save a file to your device, your local work network or a cloud storage service that you are subscribed to. Saving to your work network obviously offers increased security over purely cloud-based storage. Once saved you can then share this file with colleagues - the more expert inputs the better. No need to be at your desk - just pick up and play on your iPhone or iPad.

This app is a one-time purchase with no monthly subscriptions to continue using it and no risk that you will lose all of your previously created files if you stop using a subscription-based app or simply miss a payment. I will continue working on enhancements, additions and any bug fixes which you will receive through the usual AppStore update procedure. Please please please contact me through the Support URL page with any suggestions, bugs or criticisms. If the app is received well then I will start working on a Windows 10/11 version.
