About Ingelheim in Roman times

The app "Ingelheim in Roman times" links objects from the "Museum bei der Kaiserpfalz" with their discovery sites. Through 360° panoramas in augmented reality, videos and images, the Roman environment of the 1st century AD in Ingelheim is brought to life.

The highlight is the presentation of a monumental grave monument with three grave figures that were found in the north of Ingelheim at the end of the 19th century. Using 3D scans, these figures were reconstructed three-dimensionally and in color and embedded in a 360° panorama. In this way, the former monument, of which nothing has been preserved, can be viewed in its original surroundings. The Roman settlement, agricultural estates as well as fields and farmlands complete a lifelike picture of antiquity.

At a selected station, the donor of the funerary monument tells about her life and provides an exciting insight into Roman society.

Another 360° panorama from a bird's-eye view provides a broad overview of today's Ingelheim. This allows users who are unfamiliar with the area to get better orientation.

The suggested tour ends with a visit to the "Museum bei der Kaiserpfalz" in Ingelheim, where the original life-size figures of the monument can be seen.
