SailTime is a sail race timing app, aimed at dinghy racing. It comes in phone and Wear OS versions.
SailTime can be programmed to use any start sequence in multiples of 5, 3 or 1 minute and gives voice prompts at key intervals during the countdown sequence and a horn at the "Go" signal.
A "Sync" feature is included to jump forwards to the next whole minute in the countdown. This allows for catching up with the race committee signals if the initial signal was missed.
After the race start, the counter will count up to give race duration.
The phone or other device should be mounted in the boat in a secure fashion to use this app, or worn normally for the Wear OS version. A waterproof case or use of a waterproof phone is recommended.
If using the Wear OS version, note that the app is intended to be always on for racing. We therefore recommend that your watch is fully charged before heading out on the water. Most watches will allow for the app to be active for a full day's racing.
On Wear OS, scroll down to reveal the sequence setting, voice on/off and colour selection buttons. Scroll up to reach the main timer interface.
The Wear OS version includes a "Touch Lock" feature to prevent erratic UI behaviour when the watch gets wet. If your watch has a physical button, you can use it to control operation of the app. Once set to the desired sequence and face colour, long press on the digit display to lock the screen. Long press again to unlock. To operate the timer, press the physical button once to start. Subsequent presses trigger the sync feature. Long press the button to reset the start sequence ready for the next race.
