Wear OS watch app for timing sailing races. Aimed at dinghy and yacht racers to wear during racing. Provides start/stop and sync functions in common with standard sailing watches. Selectable start sequence from 5 min, 3 min and 1 min, or summations of those to achieve any desired sequence length.
The Wear OS watch app includes a "Touch Lock" feature to prevent erratic behaviour when the watch gets wet. If your watch has a physical button, you can use it to control operation of the app. Once set to the desired sequence and face colour, long press on the digit display to lock the screen. Long press again to unlock. To operate the timer, press the physical button once to start. Subsequent presses trigger the sync feature. Long press the button to reset the start sequence ready for the next race.
Note that the app is intended to be always on when in use. This means that ambient mode is not used and the watch remains visible at full screen brightness until you exit by pressing the home button (the timer will continue to run in the background). The normal swipe to dismiss feature in Wear OS is disabled to prevent inadvertent killing of the app, especially if you have wet fingers or the watch is wet. Most watches have sufficient battery capacity for a full day of racing but we recommend fully charging your watch before heading out on the water. Only use this app on a watch that has an appropriate IP rating for use in watersports.
