Our culture, contemporary culture, brings with it - often without even realizing it - the great legacy of the past. In the distant past nearly two thousand years, but he had been able to grasp with art the deep meaning of being human.
This legacy is before our eyes and in our way of thinking. And this is an extraordinary wealth of Italy, perhaps in a manner superior to other Mediterranean countries that have shared this culture over the centuries.
To realize just look at the many Greek and Roman theaters that are found in our country. Many are famous, many almost forgotten. Recover it is important to give back to our territories awareness of their history and cultural value they bring. For this a project that brings in the ancient theaters one project able to propose to our times the great classical myths and heroes is the most appropriate tool, together with an account of the places which foster their knowledge and we value their legacy.
QAcademy, sponsored by INDA (the National Institute for Ancient Drama) who has always worked in this direction, proposed a special project to enhance some ancient theaters. The choice falls on Theaters Romans Fiesole and Ostia Antica, the beautiful and certainly less known Roman Grumentum theaters (in Basilicata) and Ferento (near Viterbo), as well as in the extraordinary space between the Greek temples of Paestum, next the theater partially erased by men. A further stage will take place in Campania, at one of the oldest theaters in the area.
Next to the choice of sites it is one of the texts that will be represented that goes beyond the admittedly important revival of Greek and Latin classics. It is actually two shows different one reserved for the theater of Ostia Antica and the other which will affect all the other theaters, as well as Ostia Antica, between late June and early August.
A Ostia Antica, on the stage a great archaeologist and storyteller, Andrea Carandini, and the two actors Anna Bonaiuto and Massimo Di Francovich transform the legend of the birth of Rome in a true story telling, on the occasion of the 2000th anniversary of the death of Tito Livio, author of a real epic of the Roman people since its founding ( "Ab urbe condita") to the death of Drusus in 9 BC, with intent essentially no different from those that led, at the same time, the Aeneid Virgil writing.
An unpublished text that can excite and engage audiences of enthusiasts and not in a charming setting. Between myth and history one of the founding acts of Western civilization, as it only happens when he sees the light not just a settlement of huts not far from the banks of the Tiber, but urbe destined to go down in history as "eternal."
In the other theaters will be the voice of Moni Ovadia (actor, writer, great storyteller and connoisseur of civilizations and ancient stories that lead to modernity) to interpret a text "stitched" - with the help of Luciano Canfora, an expert on classical culture - on the subject of myths and ancient heroes. The show starts from testiclassici and their contemporary reinterpretation of the great greek poet Yiannis Ritsos, one of the major authors of our century, able to find an authentic voice, modern and very human to the gods and heroes of his ancient Greece, showing myth and his fall to earth.
