The Atarazanas are located in the Grao de Valencia. It constitutes the main building in the city of Valencia originally intended for the construction and repair of boats, for guarding maritime gear, or weapons carried by ships and also at a certain time, for the storage of very important goods that reached the city by sea, as was wheat and other goods. This building testifies to the importance of Valencian maritime trade throughout the Mediterranean during the fourteenth, fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. These centuries were the time of maximum splendor for commercial development and for the history of the shipyards.
