The Lonja de Valencia is not only one of the most emblematic buildings in the city, but it is also the only one distinguished as a World Heritage Site in the Valencian Community. It constitutes a masterpiece of Gothic civil architecture. Construction began in 1483 according to the project of the master Pere Compte. The ensemble is made up of three bodies that, observed from the Plaza del Mercado, would first comprise the contracting hall followed by the central tower and, to its left, the Consolat del Mar.
