About Number Coding Task

Numbers, like humans, can have so many faces. Just as the same person can appear with different faces even the same number can be presented in many different ways. For example, the number three may appear in Arabic numerals (3), in Roman numerals (III) with three abstract elements (three dots, three dots, etc.); as a word belonging to various languages (three in English, tres in Spanish, drei in German, etc.). According to psychologists the understanding that number is always itself despite being able to appear with different "faces" (or rather "different codes") represents one of the foundations of mathematical cognition and human beings acquire it (more or less) between three and six years of life. The NCT game-task evaluates our readiness (speed and level of error) in unmasking (or rather recognizing) the same number despite its different "appearances". The task if administered and interpreted by a professional psychologist can be used as a diagnostic test on the logical-mathematical cognitive functions of adults and basic children. If instead it is used autonomously it can give some general indications without however having any scientific validity. If repeated frequently over time it can be a quick and perhaps pleasant exercise to keep the minds of adults and children active.
The game represents the numbers according to the iconography of "Leonardo's Cards", to learn more visit the site www.leocards.org
