SuelosCR is an application that allows access to key information about the soil resource of Costa Rica with an agricultural approach. The application consists of two components, the first is the visualization of the soil classification with the USDA or North American system, which is the most used in Costa Rica through the country map and the second component is the consultation of the degree of soil fertility by canton.
This application is intended to help technical staff and professionals in agronomy and related areas, as well as interested farmers to make decisions. In addition to providing information for the agricultural sector, it is also useful for professionals focused on conducting detailed studies of soils of different nature, including for conforming use (stipulated in Law 7779 "Use, management and conservation of soils"). SuelosCR is designed to work with the GPS of mobile devices, so the databases will not depend in the first instance on the internet connection.
The application was conceived by the Research Center of the University of Costa Rica and is based on a robust amount of data, many of them generated at the UCR and others provided by other institutions and collaborating national entities.
