El Buscón tells us about the adventures of Pablos, a rogue with "high thoughts of a gentleman". In the desire to improve their social position, the protagonist leaves his native Segovia to other cities such as Madrid, Toledo and Seville, from where he embarks to the Indies in a desperate attempt to change his luck. The ingenuity and masterful pen of Quevedo make the reader enjoy these adventures and misadventures of Pablos.
