The raṅgama Stra is one of the great stras of Shakyamuni Buddha's teachings. It is said that this stra is one of the pillars supporting Buddhism. One day Shakyamuni Buddha's teachings will decline, and the first is the disappearance of this raṅgama Stra. Therefore, it is our duty to safeguard the existence of this stra, as well as to study it in depth.
In this great stra, Sakyamuni Buddha taught his chief disciple, Bhiksu Ananda, who at that time had not yet attained Arahatship and his mind was still filled with attachment, and most importantly in the stra it describes the practical experiences and enlightenment of the 25 major Bodhisattvas.
Each Bodhisattva uses a different method to attain enlightenment. There are 25 different practice doors. Therefore, the raṅgama Stra describes the way to attain enlightenment.
