In the context of the Ciência + Educativa project, CIMBAL promotes actions to promote vertical urban gardens in schools in Baixo Alentejo. Thus, actions are being developed with schools in the Municipalities in the area covered by CIMBAL, in order to promote contact between children and nature. In this context, school contents and dedicated pedagogical kits were also developed.
This project addresses the objectives of sustainable development, namely urban agriculture, food waste, food production and scarcity, water and waste, with the following objectives:
• Promote research, debates and activities on environmental, food and nutrition issues;
• Stimulate dynamic, participative, inter and transdisciplinary pedagogical work;
• Provide discovery;
• Generate multiple and effective learning;
• Encouraging students' commitment to the environment and valuing resources;
• Re-educate and promote a healthy eating style.
