RIP “Hassle Free” Detention
Ever since Flexport sold the Convoy Platform to DAT, getting detention pay has become nearly impossible—like pulling teeth. What used to be promoted as “hassle-free” detention is now routinely denied by DAT, even when carriers meet every requirement. Common excuses include false claims that: • The carrier left early • The carrier didn’t arrive on time • The carrier failed to log in/out times (when they clearly did) Even manual detention requests get rejected despite solid proof like timestamps and BOL documentation. At this point, why not just remove the automatic detention feature entirely? You’re going to deny it anyway, regardless of compliance. And for the love of God, stop calling it “hassle-free”—it’s anything but. This experience has made the app far less reliable for carriers who depend on fair compensation for wait times. It’s a far cry from the change and difference that Dan Lewis and Grant Goodale set out to change in the trucking industry. Some “dawn of a new future” this turned out to be 😒
