It allows to draw rectangle or L-shape rooms and calculates product usages based on real installation layout standards, for example, carpet seam layout and cuts from a carpet roll, centered tile layout (instead of just a net area calculation).

Needs disclaimer as to using t seams
This is one of many calculators available online for the diy crowd. As an installer for over 40 years this is a super simplistic tool. A disclaimer should be in bold text that not all carpet can be t seamed. For example a 17’ x 17’ room with optimal seams will require one long seam and 34 linear feet of carpet. There will be waste, but there will only be one seam. Some carpet can not have a seam cut on the width efficiently. Also, what if there is a pattern in the carpet? These issues need to be noted.
