About Nibbler Remake with Ads

Nibbler is an old arcade game classic that's a cross between Pac-Man and Snake

Nibbler Remake

The object is to navigate a snake through an enclosed maze, while consuming apples along the way. The length of the snake increases with each apple consumed, making the game more difficult. The player must avoid colliding with the snake's own body sections. When the snake hits a wall, it stalls and rapidly runs down the level timer. After all the apples on the screen have been eaten, the player progresses to the next maze.

Snake grow big very quickly, making completing a maze a matter of mastering every maze, it is possible to eat all apples without colliding with the snake's own body sections as long you make the correct directions.

As the maze is panned you will have to rely on your memory were your tail and the rest of your snake body is as it is hidden from view, failing to remember were the rest of you could result in colliding with the snake's own body sections.

Capsules will fall down the screen as you navigate threw the maze, if eaten will give you either:-

... Quick Exit Point "located at the bottom of the maze"
... Slow down the snake
... Extra Time
... Crash Diet "shortens your length back down"

On every 7 mazes completed your speed increases, faster and faster were it becomes a matter of memory and quick reflexes to navigate the maze.to navigate the maze.

Controls are the Virtual D-Pad as well as the two Rotate Left/Right to help navigate when Nibbler is moving so so fast...

Meh

I was excited to see this app. Like the original game you have the snake eating nibbles and growing bigger so you have to plan ahead. It has the pills dropping down just like the original game. However, I can’t figure out a way to make this fit into my iPad so you only get to see part of the level. This makes it incredibly difficult to plan with your snake is going because you don’t really know where all the nibbles are. So when I think about playing this game versus another, I’d rather play a game where I can get the whole screen onto my iPad. Also, the directional pad doesn’t work very well so it’s pretty easy to miss what you were trying to do and then when you try harder and sooner suddenly it responds.

Needs work

The backgrounds are incredibly jarring plus they scroll differently than the maze itself, which is disorienting. As for the directional arrow, it is too much in the way and should stay centered on the screen or maybe be much smaller in the top toolbar, or provide a setting to hide it. I do not recall the falling pill from the original game. It is unclear what it adds besides an element of pure luck (once the snake has grown sufficiently, it is basically impossible to change course to catch that pill). Anyway, good effort but the clean design of the original game should be adopted. Also, the difficulty progression is too fast, unlike the original, so many players will give up quickly.
