About Actor Trade
ActorTrade is built on a free trade system. Every minute an actor reads lines for another actor, they earn a minute of their own rehearsal time that can be used whenever they’d like, or they can trade in their minutes for prizes.
When an actor wants to rehearse or self-tape (self-tape is web version only) , they simply open the app up and click the rehearse now icon in the menu bar. From there you’ll be guided through a series of windows that will bring you to a list of available readers. Choose the reader you want to rehearse / self-tape with and enjoy!
Once you’re connected with your reader, you will see all the scripts you’ve uploaded from your email. Share the PDF you’d like to work on with the reader and off you go. Change the view if you’d like, and end the session early if you’ve rehearsed enough. To self-tape, click the ‘self-tape’ icon during a rehearsal and the screen will change to record mode. Record, play it back to see if it’s good. Instantly save it to your phone so you can send it to anyone.
ActorTrade makes it very easy for actors to upload their audition material straight from their phones.
When an actor wants to read for others to earn minutes of their own (which can also be cashed in for prizes, we will get there) they simply open the ‘read for others’ icon in the menu bar, set their availability time and be alerted when an actor wants to rehearse.
If you have some spare time and would like to earn minutes of your own by reading lines for another actor, just click the ‘Read For Others’ icon in the menu bar. ActorTrade will send out a signal to the other members that you are available to read and you will be notified once an actor has requested to read with you. If you are still available to read, just hit the accept tab and be taken to the live-video stream.
Actors are able to trade in their earned minutes for prizes instead of rehearsal time, if they’d prefer.

Ads
The ads on the bottom make it impossible to navigate the app. I got a message notification from a friend, but there’s no way to read the message. If I upload sides, the reader is expected to use his phone screen to read them? How can anyone read copy that small? This a poor man’s WeAudition. There’s a reason that service is not free. You get what you pay for! I’m a reader on there and it’s been a game changer. Skip this app and read through Zoom instead. Set up your phone to record the session. You’re welcome!

Must Have App for Actors
The app can be buggy and your mileage will vary with readers, but Actor Trade is the best selftape app going, and a must-have in any serious actor’s toolkit. There’s a supporting Facebook group, Rehearsal & Self-tape Partners for Actors, with with tutorials 12K+ members ready to help each read scenes. You can tape within the app, or just use it to share sides with your reader without having to exchange contact info or audition material files. You don’t even have to use the app at all if you so choose! The app is great, but the FB group is the killer feature for me.
