# Abstract
Populism poisons the minds of young people with fear and falsehood. Teachers try to heal them by preaching Digital Natives history books. We think that teenagers need to experience education as an engaging experience, so we've worked with students aged 14-18 to develop an interactive augmented reality escape room to learn more about targeted disinformation and fake news. Read, check facts, research, solve riddles and escape the fake reality.
# Let's escape the fake reality.
In a not too distant future, humans live in a world where the spread of disinformation and deep fake tools used in political campaigns have created a broken, dystopian reality in which consumers cannot tell what is real from what is fake. AI companies have exerted power and influence and sold the "truth" to the highest bidder. The consequences were extreme: fates and families were ruined, elections were hacked by extremist politicians, human rights were restricted.
The game starts with a friendship request from a reverse reality hacker from the future who asks you to help repair the present and stop this cascade of events.
EscapeFake is an immersive mixed reality experience that transforms physical space into an escape room scenario in which users interact with a quantum reality hacker from the future, find clues, solve puzzles to "escape the fake.
Out of 500 international ideas EscapeFake won the Advocate Europe Award and the Vienna Content Award for the most creative project.
