Located on the site of the most ancient part of the city – the inner city of ancient Biarescie, discovered and studied in 1968–1981 by archaeologists from the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR under the guidance of Doctor of Historical Sciences Piotr Lysienka. The museum opening took place on March 2, 1982.
