35% menu up charge and service fee (plus software fee) all before a driver tip
This is a functional app, but they lack transparency in their fees. A $38 dinner order is $80+ with a driver tip. They’ve cornered a small market and are extorting what they can get away with this rent seeking behavior for now. It’s DoorDash on crack from a capitalistic stand point. I had to use it as I was stuck home with a sleeping infant but am mostly disappointed in the menu markup (30-35%) because it make the restaurants seem like they are gouging customers and hurts the reputation of those locally owned spots.

Sneaky fees
I never review apps, but I’m pretty dissatisfied with Island Bite. We’ve used it here and there over the years because they’re the only game in town on the island. The fees make it very expensive and I dislike the lack of transparency. There’s the expected delivery fee, but then there’s also the “service fee” lumped in with sales tax, etc. that you have to expand to see. Seems to typically be about 15-20% of the subtotal. I get that the convenience comes at a price, but I’d rather it was more up front. Instead of thinking your order is going to be $60 and being shocked when it’s closer to $80 when all is said and done. More than once I’ve just said forget it.
