NIC-PREDICT estimates potential outcomes for an infant based on a combination of four perinatal factors. As such, the data generated are more accurate than outcome data based on gestational age alone.
NIC-PREDICT cannot precisely determine the exact outcome for an individual infant as circumstances and clinical course in NICU cannot be predicted before birth.
NIC-PREDICT will predict (estimate) the chances of one of the three possible mutually exclusive outcomes: 1) death, 2) survival with major disability, or 3) survival free of major disability.
