New Mexico is committed to reducing methane, a potent greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change. This administration is also committed to transparency and the data shared here from the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) and Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD) aims to give the public a look at methane emissions from the oil and gas industry.

Methane, an odorless, colorless gas with a global warming potential 84 times greater than carbon dioxide, is a by-product of oil and gas operational practices across New Mexico.
