Vigo Driving is a real-time driving assistance system, pioneer in Spain, available for the city of Vigo. This application shows, while driving, the traffic light times in green, orange and red. You will also get advices which will help you to anticipate if, at your current speed, you will be able to pass the next traffic light together with traffic information and warnings.
Whether in day-to-day travel or professional driver work, the application of the Vigo City Council, Vigo Driving, communicates and interacts with drivers and their vehicles and helps them move in a safer, cleaner and more efficient way.
We recommend placing the Smartphone or Tablet in the vehicle console as if it were a navigator. When you start the application it will show the map of the city and it will position once you start driving. On the map it will show you the following information services:
- TRAFFIC LIGHTS: Indication of time, in seconds, for phase change (green, orante or red) and a speed recommendation when approaching a traffic light. The color of the arrows will tell you if, at the current speed, you will be able to pass the next traffic light or if you should otherwise slow down. This enables the adaptation of driving according to whether or not it is possible to go green according to the time remaining for the phase change. In this way, hard acceleration and braking can be avoided, helping to reduce emissions and consumption. The application will also alert when it detects a risk of exceeding a red traffic light.
- ALERTS which inform the driver about traffic jams, road works or accidents ahead that allow more secure anticipation of unforeseen situations on the routes.
- NOTICE OF SENSITIVE ZONES: School zones or limited to 30 km / h
- TRAFFIC INFORMATION: such as, for example, estimated travel times to key points in the city or information about closed streets or areas that will help to better plan the route to follow.
- PARKING: Information on the location of the underground car parks in the city and an indication of the availability of free spaces (if the Car Park publishes such information)
The Vigo Driving application is complemented by the “Vigo” application where you can consult the rest of mobility services such as: real-time traffic status, traffic cut notifications, gas stations with updated prices, electric charging points, traffic cameras, car parks, public transport, pedestrian areas, ...
NOTE: There are currently 170 traffic light crossings included in the Vigo Driving system. Non-centralized traffic lights are not available in this system so some traffic lights in the city will not display information.
