Since 1994, the Beartrap Summer Festival has made the woods and meadows atop Casper Mountain ring with bluegrass music for a weekend. The Festival was started by the Natrona County Roads, Bridges & Parks Department in conjunction with Townsquare Media. From modest beginnings, it has grown to host thousands of music lovers from around Wyoming, the United States, and the world!
A wide variety of regional and national bluegrass bands performs every year, providing almost continuous music from mid-morning until dusk. For the last few years, the Festival has welcomed some of the biggest names in bluegrass as special headline performers, including the Sons of the Pioneers, Asleep at the Wheel, Ricky Skaggs, Earl Scruggs, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Leo Kottke, and Patty Loveless.
While music is the heart of the Beartrap Summer Festival, it's not the only attraction. There's a marketplace featuring dozens of artists, craftspeople, and merchants, an open air food court with something for every taste, a special kids' area with supervised crafts and activities, and music workshops conducted by some of our outstanding performers. It's truly a family event - even Fido is welcome (on leash, please!).
Best of all, it happens in the beautiful setting of Beartrap Meadow, where birdsong and rustling leaves play a natural accompaniment to the music. Remember to bring your sunscreen and lawn chairs or blankets, and we’ll see you this year at the Beartrap Summer Festival.
