I’m Tejashree Datey - a mother, teacher, and a foodie with a keen wanderlust.
I don't have a formal training in culinary art but that hasn't stopped me from learning my way through by experimenting and perfecting recipes which probably aren't taught in school. Tackling and mastering challenging dishes helped me hone my skills.
With a growing family, I had to find ways to whip up meals which were delicious, different but quick and effortless. My mantra was using gadgets to save time and plating food beautifully to keep the family engaged.
Being a trailing spouse served as a blessing in my food journey as it gave me a chance to savour the vast repertoire of beautiful cuisines across India and abroad. I used every opportunity to learn the nuances of the local cuisines..all while tucking into some delectable food. :)
Moving to another country gave me a lot of time to happily pursue my twin interests: food and photography. A desire to share these notes made me set up my Facebook group in 2017 where I put out my favourite recipes from around the globe, with tips and notes emphasising on salvaging the dish if it fails. My travel photography endeavours with stories around food and cooking lessons taken while travelling taught me to think beyond flavours.
Through Swaad Simplified, I want to make cooking less intimidating and boost confidence in every person who fears attempting that particular dish they've always wanted to try. You can be an excellent cook if you believe in the magic of your fingers (and my recipes too). Give it a try and have your own dialogue with taste.
