Scalextric Spark Plug – the Formula E edition is a racing game that can host up to 14 players using their mobile phones or tablets.
What is Scalextric Spark Plug?
Scalextric Spark Plug is an App and Dongle that allows you to race your Scalextric Car from your phone or tablet via Bluetooth. Simply download the app, plug the dongle into your Scalextric power base, connect and then get racing using the game play options.
Game Play Options:
1). Single Player Mode – This is a one player game where you can use your phone or tablet to control your Scalextric car on the track.
2). Team Mode – This allows you to bring Formula E racing into your home. 2-14 players can participate over a fixed race length and the aim is to complete the race distance first, but along the way each driver will need to get the best from their pit crew. See below for more information.
3) Versus Mode – This is a 2-player game and the aim is to stay on the track. Each time you crash, or your opponent knocks you off you will lose a life.
More About Teams Mode.
Teams Mode offers a 2-14 player experience. The race will consist of 2 cars over a fixed distance race length. First you need to select 2 drivers, each driver can select the profile of one the real Formula E drivers (or alternatively you can create your own driver profile). Next, the other players will decide which driver they would like to join as part of their pit crew.
Once the race is underway it will be down to the driver to control the car, navigate the racetrack at the fastest speed but avoid crashing off. Throughout each race the car will require 2 pit stops. This is where the pit crew come into play as they look to get you out of a virtual pitstop as quickly as possible. To do this they will need to complete a series of mini games in the app on their device. If the car crashes out too much, then additional pitstops maybe required and again, it will be down to the speed and skill of the pit crew to complete the virtual pitstop and get you racing again!
The pitcrew can also influence the race by deploying Fan Boost’s to their driver to give them a boost of power allowing them to go quicker. They can also deploy Speed Restrict and Attack Mode onto their opponent’s car, to slow them down or force them to crash off the track.
Simply plug the Spark Plug dongle into your Scalextric analogue powerbase rather than a traditional hand controller, and race away meaning no more wires!
Other in app features include:
• Single Player or Versus Mode options.
• Option to use smart device vs hand controller on single player option.
• Rumble and sound effects.
• Personalise your race profile within app and racing experience:
• Name.
• Include your image from your library or camera.
• Controller skin.
• Select music from either the app or your own library.
• Engine sound
• Button layout – right-handed or left-handed option.
To use this App you must purchase a Spark Plug dongle and have an open Wi-Fi access that all participants can join.
Scalextric Spark Plug is compatible with Scalextric 1:32 scale power bases.
