About Vinegar - Tube Cleaner
It removes ads, restores picture-in-picture, and allows videos to play in the background when set to audio-only quality.
Note: The phrase 'can read and alter webpages' in the permissions section is just an unfortunate choice of words. Vinegar needs access to the webpage to find the YouTube player and replace it. It's not doing anything creepy!
(Also, do check out Vinegar's companion app, Baking Soda. It's essentially a less powerful version of Vinegar, but it works on all websites except YouTube.)

Great app, currently in need of an update
This app works wonderfully to transform YouTube’s custom JavaScript player to a standard HTML5 <video>, allowing native niceties like PiP and background play. As with any app of this nature, it’s in a cat-and-mouse game with YouTube who want to control the experience and disallow native controls. As of YouTube’s latest big update, Vinegar is somewhat broken on iOS (videos play, but no controls are shown). The developer is usually pretty prompt with fixes so this is more a heads-up for them that something needs fixing. Keep up the great work!
