You are not alone!
My son would never settle and would often end up in our room as he was scared monsters lived under his bed. I hated that I couldn’t put his mind at rest and reassure him, he was also missing out on necessary sleep and struggling during the day!
I came up with the idea for ‘Monster Checker’ one day and we have never looked back! My little boy scans his bedroom every night to make sure the ‘monsters’ aren’t there - we also use it when we stay in unfamiliar environments e.g. hotels/camping.
It has put his mind at rest and he sleeps soundly knowing his bedroom and surroundings are safe for him. It has been so comforting to know he isn’t worrying anymore!
