Pay-to-Play Disguised as Education
I strongly dislike this game. While it’s marketed as an educational math tool, Prodigy provides very little real educational value. Instead, it functions more like a pay-to-play social game that uses common engagement tactics to keep kids hooked on evolving pets, collecting rewards, and earning in-game currency. In schools where this app is popular, social hierarchies often form around who has a paid premium membership. Kids without it can feel left out, which shifts the focus even further away from learning. Rather than meaningfully improving math or writing skills, the game seems designed to encourage screen time and in-app purchases. The educational component feels secondary to the monetization and reward systems. I would not recommend this as a serious learning tool.
