With Amend you can get rewarded for helping out a local business and throwing away your garbage. Whether you purchased a cup of coffee or picked up someone else’s littered cup of coffee, Amend wants to reward you for properly disposing of garbage.
Why Amend?
Chances are you already throw away your garbage and in that case you can get rewarded for it! Think of it as a loyalty program with a tangible purpose. The problem is that not everybody throws away their garbage. Canadians produce approximately 31 million tonnes of garbage a year and on average 6 million tonnes become litter every year. That is the problem Amend is trying to solve. If we can make people conscious of what they do with their garbage we can decrease that number even slightly. If that fails, we can reward the people who pick up the litter and we think those people really do deserve rewarding.
How Do We Amend?
Amend partners with local businesses that care about making a difference. There is also a tangible incentive, that is that litter is bad advertising. People who see litter from that same company more than once begin to create a negative connotation with that company. That tangible incentive is what we believe will make reducing litter more than just a good cause, but something all businesses will pursue. That is the value for companies and that is how Amend rewards you for throwing out your/other people's garbage.
