At California Enduro, we've been running and promoting mountain bike enduro races since 2010. Timing mountain bike enduro races is challenging. There are many timing systems available - chip/tag based systems that are very expensive, and general purpose software that can be difficult to setup/use for timing a mountain bike enduro race. So, over the years we developed our own chip-based timing software specifically focused on mountain bike enduro races. While chip timing has many advantages - chip timing hardware is expensive, and not economically viable for many race organizers. So we wanted to provide a more economical alternative that can leverage our software without the chip timing hardware.
The California Enduro Timing app is simple alternative for capturing race timing for Mountain Bike Enduro race timing (or any individual start stage race event).
The California Enduro Timing app is free to use with your own way to calculate the race results. Or you can use it with the California Enduro online timing system to manage race registration, online event management, and race results - contact us at info@californiaenduro.com for online timing.
The app is simple and straight to the point. The main page is timing page designed to be easy for a timing marshal/volunteer to easily use the app to record the racer's number plate and the time they cross the timing point.
For mountain bike enduro races, you'll want the California Enduro Timing app at each stage start and finish.
At the start - enter the racer's number plate into the app using the number pad - then count them down 5-4-3-2-1-GO - on GO hit the Record Time button to record the time they start. The racer's number and start time will appear in the table.
At the finish - hit the Record Time button as the racer crossed he finish line - then enter the number plate on the keypad. If multiple racers cross in a short time - hit the Record Time button for each crossing - then enter the number plate in the order they crossed the finish line, the app with match the number plate with the timestamps in order. We generally have 2 people at the finish - one to hit the button as the rider crosses the finish, the second to spot/announce the number plates.
If the timing marshal accidentally hits the Record Time button too many times, use the SKIP button on the keypad to enter a blank number plate entry for the extra timestamp.
If you are calculating your own race results - swipe left to review the entries and then download the results as a CSV via AirDrop, iMessage, or email.
If you are using California Enduro online timing system - swipe right to upload the entries to California Enduro online.
