About City of Bayou La Batre

Bayou La Batre lies along the Gulf of Mexico in South Alabama. We are small, unique City with a “working waterfront” along our Bayou shorelines filled with seafood and shipyard industries. Our city is known for the freshest seafood along the Gulf Coast, hence the title of “Seafood Capital of Alabama!” Our shipyards are known world-wide for new builds and repair. We are proud to have produced legendary vessels such as The Black Pearl, from Disney’s hit series Pirates of the Caribbean and the F/V Cornelia Marie from the Discovery Channel long-running series Deadliest Catch.

Bayou La Batre is located on Alabama’s Scenic Byway – Coastal Connection, otherwise known as Highway 188. Take the time to “Day-Trip” with us by enjoying a slow kayak ride up and down our Bayou to view our working waterfront. Photograph migrating birds, amazing sunsets, boats at harbor or boats being built. Feast on our amazing seafood at some of our nationally recognized restaurants, purchase fresh seafood straight from incoming boats, tour our welcome center or stop by our City Docks to enjoy some relaxing “Bayou-Time” watching our fleets, birds, sunsets and locals. We look forward to your visit!
