ABOUT PORTMEIRION
Portmeirion was designed & built by architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis from 1925 to 1978 in the style of an Italian village.
Clough wanted to show how the development of a naturally beautiful site need not lead to its defilement, his motto was:-
“Cherish the Past, Adorn the Present, Construct for the Future”
Portmeirion gave Clough pleasure during his life and he hoped that it would give pleasure to others.
