Sucks
An app to make things more complicated than they have to be. Great job creating a new headache.

Kept charging me despite in-app cancellation
I canceled the app subscription in-app, but kept on being charged via Apple subscriptions. I had to cancel the subscription via Apple’s subscriptions page as well. The in-app page would show that my subscription is invalid even though my Apple account was still being charged weekly.

Cluttered app
Would be better if the app was less cluttered and stick to its key function of notifications

I hope this company fails
I just wanted to see the place in line from the web site and they put a giant pop up blocking the screen to get you to download the app every time then try to get you to make a login plus they try to get you to share your location, probably so they can monetize the data by selling it to data brokers at the expense of user privacy Is this really necessary for an app like this? I plan to avoid all restaurants that use this app in protest, starting with Sugarfish. If you’re a restaurant using this platform please consider switching to another company. If you’re a VC or venture debt firm, I hope you see this review and consider not investing, or if you do invest, please cause management to be replaced. I will return to visiting the restaurants (and booking frequent large parties for my company at those restaurants) if they switch platforms or if minitable changes this practice plus fires the product manager responsible, and promises to give negative references about this PM to future employers Update: The developer noted in its reply that the place in line can still be seen from the web. However, when you go to the website there is a giant popup covering the screen, requiring you to hit “continue on web” which blocks the information. If it were to do this on just the first time visiting the site that would be one thing but when you refresh the site to see if your place in line moved (which is a common user behavior), the pop up returns every single time, requiring you to click “continue on web” over and over. Either have the pop up show only one time, or make the popup smaller so I can still see my place in line without downloading the app or continually exiting out of a popup. Be honest, don’t give me this ai-crafted corporate fake-polite slop response. This UI was done intentionally to drive user signups at the expense of user experience. Everybody with a brain can see that immediately when they use the service. I’m guessing it’s so Minitable can show a user signup chart that’s up and to the right to investors to trick them - despite likely low engagement per signup (most people likely just sign up to avoid the poor UI of the web version).

Disgraceful Dark Pattern
I signed up for a waitlist at a restaurant and was texted a link to “check status”. In the past, this link took you to a page on the Minitable website, where you could view your place in line. However, you are now just given a link that leads to their app listing, trying to force you to install their app and sign up for an account. This is incredibly misleading and dishonest behaviour. They specifically worsened the user experience in order to push app downloads and signups. Why take away the webpage, instead of just offering both options? Giving 1 star only because I can’t give 0.

forced to download this
Why is there no web app? I don’t want to download an app for a one off restaurant waitlist.

Don’t want an app for waitlist
Waitlists should just be simple websites, having to download an app just to check this is really annoying

Junk App with In App Purchases
I got in waitlist at Haidilao and got a message saying I can track my spot with a link. Link got me to this app and I downloaded it, trusting that the restaurant picked it to improve customer experience. Once I downloaded it, it won’t let me view my spot in line and even tried to sell me a monthly membership to be able to do that. It’s crazy!!! Why do I need to pay for this service and not the restaurant? This is ridiculous and I can’t imagine real customers actually giving this app a 5 star for what it’s worth.

You Get What You Ask For
Lol. Force users to download the app? This is what you get. I downloaded your worthless app, gave you a rating that is already too merciful for your rubbish app, and will not give you a grain of personal information 😓 The app works like any pile of useless scams, website even worse 👎 I do not want to see this load of rubbish anywhere else.
