eMathmind features three stages of learning composed of three rounds (or stars). Each round tackles accuracy, speed and retention in subtly different ways by presenting a full set of multiplication problems for a given multiplier (e.g. 1’s, 0’s, 5’s).
The Training session establishes a baseline of critical data with an emphasis on accuracy. In particular, the learner is presented with at least three rounds. To achieve success and advance to next session the learner must complete three rounds in a row without any errors.
The Trials session promotes a high level of mental performance. In particular, the learner is typically presented with at least three rounds. To achieve success and advance to the next session the learner must demonstrate an appropriate speed and accuracy for three consecutive rounds.
The Finals session evaluates long-term memory. In particular, the learner is presented with an individual round over three different days. To achieve success and be considered fluent the learner must exceed targeted speed and accuracy with one, two and four day breaks between each round.
The practice and exploration sessions offer a work at your own pace environment to practice multiplication problems as well as multiplication math facts, respectively. Taken together, eMathmind’s granularity provides a level of certainty in measuring memorization not available today. Consquently, we present a superior approach alternative to traditional times tests and approached designed to achieve automaticity and fluency.
