Miles is a recreation of an old French card game. In it you must try to beat your opponent to, first, 700 miles - then 1000 miles. You do this by using Mile cards to move, hazard cards to stop your opponent and safety's to protect yourself.
Object
Miles is a card game depiction of a race across (a maximum of) 1,000 miles. Each player is a car and different cars help or hinder the journey. The object of the game is to take your car to the finish line. The finish line, primarily, is 700 miles - but you can choose to extend this to 1,000 miles. This is worth more points, but also allows your opponent a chance to catch-up, or for you to run out of cards before the race is completed. Each game is played over several hands - a complete game is finished when one player reaches 5,000 points. If you wish, you can raise the limit of the game to 100,000 points. This option is available only in our game.
The movement cards are the core of the game. Playing one of these moves you closer to your goal. But you can only move if you're showing a Green Light (roll) card. A hazard card allows you to hinder your opponents progress, or for his to hinder yours. Each hazard will stop movement and has a corresponding remedy will fix it, each one also has a safety that will prevent it being used against you. The only exception to this is the Speed Limit hazard, this only stops you from using movement cards above 50 and the Right of way safety card fixes this and the stop hazard. The above table shows you which hazards are affected by which remedys and safetys . Can you reach the finish line first?
