Good where it counts the most
While there are some key areas for improvement, this app gets the main thing right: the books are in lovely high resolution, doing the artwork justice. I also really like the elegant new font used for the new English translation. I can’t speak to the accuracy of this translation, but overall I found it to be quite readable. I also enjoyed the supplementary materials which give historical context. The app claims to support Family Sharing, but I cannot figure out how to share the books. I emailed the developers about this and they never responded. The book reader’s zoom function is kind of broken in portrait mode, though I mostly read in landscape anyway. Also, turning to the next page is finicky. And it would be nice if the TV episodes were in their original 4:3 aspect ratio rather than the cropped 16:9 (with captions/subtitles please!)
