m:app can be used to fully control Audivo products that are based on Audivo's SeDMP audio solution (like m:streamer or m:speaker). The app not only allows UPnP control but full control of all available input sources as well as all settings and additional features of the device. In this sense it can be used as replacement for as well as in conjunction with m:remote.
In combination with latest device firmware, m:app allows to control all supported sources (Internet Radio, Airable, Tidal, Qobuz, UPnP, USB, iPod, line in, etc.). It is easily possible to browse the sources and start and control playback of audio contents (where control of playback means play, pause, stop, fast forward, fast rewind, next/previous track, volume control as well as setting shuffle and repeat options). Album art is supported for Internet Radio, Podcasts, Tidal, Qobuz and UPnP in browse view as well as in play view (if original source supports/provides album art; album art behavior in browse view can be adjusted in app settings). Adding tracks to Presets is possible from browse as well as play view.
Tracks from various sources can be added to the play queue on the fly. The device would play that queue even when the App is not active. Queues can be reordered and stored. Items can be added and deleted during playback.
Audio files, that are stored locally on the Apple device can streamed to the audio device.
With the new multiroom feature, up to 5 devices can be combined to a group. Audio playback on all devices of a group is fully in sync. Group management and volume control is easily done within a central multiroom view.
The app uses a tab based approach to easily allow the user to switch between source selection, browse mode, play mode and settings. At first startup it automatically searches the local network and displays all found devices it can control. On subsequent starts it tries to connect to last connected device for user convenience (auto-connect feature is adjustable in app settings). From discovery view ("Search" in settings) it is possible to switch the device controlled by m:app.
m:app can be used to adjust all settings supported by the currently connected device. Examples are device name, language setting, NTP setup or network setup (what is handy for first time WLAN setup without m:remote when device can be connected via LAN for initial setup). In addition, all features like alarm clock or sleep timer can be controlled. It is even possible to start firmware update of host device.
