About SubZone
When sound waves reflect off the walls, ceiling, and floor of a room they produce "room modes". These affect the sound by boosting or cutting certain frequencies, making some sound too boomy and others not present enough. To get the best performance out of your subwoofer, it is important to position it in a location that minimizes the effect of room modes.
Previously, finding the best place to put a subwoofer has involved trial-and-error or expensive acoustic software. Some even suggest crawling around on your hands and knees to listen for the best spot. Now, SubZone allows you to calculate the optimal position in a scientific and affordable way from the comfort of your seat.
Key features:
- Supports any rectangular-shaped room
- Simulates the acoustic effect of placing your subwoofer in each possible zone of your room
- Calculates a score out of 10 for how well each zone performs
- Recommends the optimum zones, marked with a star
- Plots the frequency response for each zone, showing which frequencies are boosted/cut and by how much
- Can optimize to a specified frequency range
- Supports optimization for multiple listening positions
- Uses information about the construction materials of the room to improve the accuracy of the simulation
- Simple interface with step-by-step guide
- No account or sign-in required
- Respects your privacy by storing data locally
- Detailed documentation with a comprehensive FAQ
- Expert support on-hand to handle any questions or issues
- Dark and light color schemes
- Complies with GDPR legislation

Pretty good start!
So far, so good. The app performs as expected. The developer is very responsive, and is very polite. I think this app has a lot of potential, and I’m looking forward to using it. I have set up my listening room, and put the sub where the app recommended, and it seems to sound pretty good. I haven’t done measurements yet, but I am moderately confident measurements will bear out what the app recommends. To quickly determine the place to put a sub, this app is very useful. Once the app is polished over the course of the next few months, it will likely be a five star app. It certainly worth a dollar!
