About Contextually A.I. Word Puzzle
Each guess is ranked by how close it is to the hidden word. The lower the number, the closer you are to reaching the hidden word - word #1.
Understanding context is how language AIs work. Computer models digest many thousands of articles, books, etc., with millions of words, to find which words are used most often together, and predict what words could come next. Contextually leverages the same insights, using text corpuses and modeling from Stanford University and Google.
Because ‘context’ covers a wide range of what & how people communicate, Contextually is a challenge to play. Successful guesses might be based on any or all of:
* Events/interests - e.g., impose and sanctions, or vampire and slayer
* Meanings/synonyms - promise and vow
* Semantics/connotations - club and clique
* Word association - horse and carriage
* Similarities - cupcake and muffin
* Categories - candy and snack
* Phrases and idioms - insult and injury
Contextually’s design, gameplay, and word selection all enhance its playability. Features include:
* Hints - each game gives you a starting point
* Unlimited game play, two ways - Classic gives you unlimited guesses; 6 for 6 starts with 6 hints, but you have only 6 tries to guess the hidden word
* Daily play - one game that's the same for everyone, every day
* Curated list of 1500+ words. Hidden words are nouns in the singular form, except for pairs (goggles, scissors) and stuff that's never singular (lyrics, nachos). The list is curated to provide a range of difficulty, and to limit non-relevant games. (For example, ‘cologne’ didn’t make the list; its closest context words are other place names in Germany.)
Take a stimulating brain break with Contextually, and stretch your vocabulary & language understanding, while matching wits with AI!

Some fun until you encounter bad puzzles
It’s a neat idea in premise, but if the programming doesn’t hold up then neither does the fun. Too many errors in the word hierarchy. A giraffe and a narwhal can’t be single digit similarities on a list of animals. Making a word plural or not changes the associated strength by 50 places, even when the answer is not number specific. “Siri, find me a better word game”. A sign of the times.

Interesting and challenging
The game feels unique. The AI component makes you think through the clues differently. I like that there are two different game modes - one where you start with just tow clues and have unlimited tries to figure it out from there, and the other where you start with six clues but only have six tries to solve it.
