Strong Foundation, But AI Needs Better Adaptation

At first, the fights feel tense and engaging, and the AI gives the impression that it is learning and reacting to what you do. That early back-and-forth is one of the game’s strongest points and makes matches feel thoughtful. In my experience, the AI does have an adaptive system and it does change its behavior during fights. However, that adaptation is not strong enough once the core mechanics are understood. Even when the AI switches tactics, I can usually rely on the same basic strategy and still regain control of the fight. The issue is not that the AI is broken or poorly designed, but that it does not push back hard enough against repeated play. When a safe and effective sequence is found, it can be used too consistently without real risk. Over time, fights begin to feel familiar, more like following a known pattern than reacting to a smart opponent. The foundation for a strong adaptive AI is clearly there, but it needs to do more to recognize and counter repeated strategies. Overall, improving this would make fights feel more dynamic, challenging, and rewarding over the long run.

Is this game your mom?

because I am astonished by the depth and I can’t get off of it. this game is a ton of fun, and wholly unique. the AI is intelligent, so allowing your fighters to fight automatically is a viable method if you don’t wish to engage directly with the fighting mechanics. even with autofight on, fights are tense as just a couple of devastating blows can result in a fighter dying in the ring. Plenty of content is available for free, but the $8 upgrade was so worth full access.
