Change the categories back

They recently changed the "categories" section and it's absolutely awful! Change it back to the provider apps. It's so unorganized and it's awful. Whoever made this change, WTH were you thinking the category section is completely awful. It's so hard to find easier, and you could just certified the app that you wanted to such as Netflix, Peacock, Apple TV. Considering canceling over this change

Mr VidAngel is a joke

Horrible

I had this app in the past and forgot why I got rid of it. Now I remember. It’s a complete nightmare logging in every single time. It ruins everything. I went online and confirmed what everybody appears to realize. It’s a nightmare for everyone else as well. You think that they would get it together and try to fix these issues but they don’t. It’s a mess.

Absolutely worth it!

This is a great app with just a few limitations. It’s hard to believe it doesn’t have a higher rating. 3.6 stars does not do it justice. You can filter programs perfectly, as much or as little as you want. It exceeds my expectations and is well worth $10 a month. The only con for me that I hope they correct in coming months is you cannot use 4K, HDR+, Dolby Vision or Atmos. That’s not to say the video & audio are bad, it’s just I pay extra for those features from the streaming services and would like to be able to use them. Nevertheless, I use this app daily and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a filtering app. There are so many things I can watch now that I feel like I’ll never be able to watch it all.

Connection to prime stinks

I like the service don’t get me wrong. But when the connection is so terrible, it makes me wonder why I even try sometimes.

Great Idea, Poorly Executed

I genuinely love the idea of this app, and want to enjoy my experience as a user, but some aspects are so cumbersome, and quite frankly just don’t make any sense. I don’t know why they changed the way “categories” were previously. You can tell whoever came up upon these new/current category names has no understanding of UX or content strategy, or does not care about what users really need or look for when they’re trying to find programming and entertainment based on actual categories. The titles of each category (currently, which they have updated yet again), are too long. Users typically skim and scan, nobody wants to read 2 to 3 lines about a category, they just wanna quickly see “documentary”, “action”, “drama”, “romance”, etc., etc… On top of that… “search” is just painful. I don’t mean to be harsh, but searching for anything within the VidAngel app is sort of a waste of time…. there’s no typeahead implemented, it does not do a good job of actually finding or hinting towards the actual title you’re looking for, and then there are even times when you type in the actual name of a movie in full (which you shouldn’t have to do), and that’s the only way to find the movie… and even worse, the movie still does not turn up in the search results. There are also a lot of bugs and playback errors with lots of the videos. All I would say to design and dev is please do some competitive and comparative UX best practice research… and see how actual streaming apps experiences are implemented. It seems like somebody from high school, or somebody who means well, but has no understanding of user experience is kind of putting this together. Hopefully categories will just go back to the way it was, not that the previous way the categories were arranged was good either... but at least I can find specific movies or shows in Netflix, or on prime video, or whichever platforms I’m actually subscribed to… and not the strange way of putting all of the categories together with interesting titles that are over-thought, and you’re now being flooded with a bunch of movies/shows you can’t even watch because you don’t have a subscription. Please put the user first.
