The project "Immersive Reality and Technological Innovation of Astroturism" is an initiative executed by Brecha Digital Consultores in conjunction with the Regional Government of Coquimbo and the Central University of Chile, thanks to the Innovation Fund for Regional Competitiveness, FIC-R 2016.
Due to its location, Andacollo has excellent weather conditions for observing the skies, with more than 300 days of clear weather per year. The Collowara Observatory, under the Illustrious Municipality of Andacollo and concessioned by the group of tour operators "Tierra de Astros", was founded in 2004. It presents the most intense and impressive skies of the region.
The application transports users through the immersive reality to Collowara ("star hill" in Aymará), located in the vicinity of the city of Andacollo.
In this virtual tour through Collowara, you can visit the sales room, cafeteria and the projection room with capacity for 54 people that shows the sky in real time. Three terraces of direct observation in the form of cross arranged towards the east, where there are 2 Schmidt Newtonian telescopes of 10 inches and 1 telescope Dobson of 16 inches, being able to appreciate the different planets and constellations. Finally, its central dome that has a Schmidt Cassegrain 14-inch telescope.
